Job description

We're hiring a Wastewater Collections Apprentice to assist with the operation and maintenance of pump stations and sewer mains, ensuring uninterrupted flow of sanitary sewer influent to the Wastewater Treatment Plant for processing. This role operates in Alabaster and follows an onsite work arrangement. Key Responsibilities: - Perform preventative and corrective maintenance/repairs on pump stations, sewer mains, and manholes to ensure system reliability and compliance with environmental standards. - Conduct drain and sewer camera inspections, routinely inspect pump stations, log results, and maintain accurate records to support data-driven decision-making. - Respond to citizen requests involving sewer problems, diagnose issues, and coordinate repairs to minimize disruptions and maintain public satisfaction. - Operate equipment and utilize hand/power tools to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and identify equipment maintenance needs for optimal performance. - Assist with monitoring systems by reading gauges, graphs, meters, and control panels to ensure operational efficiency and early issue detection.

Job requirements

- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required. - Experience in equipment operation and a valid State driver’s license are mandatory for this role. - Must obtain a valid Alabama Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade I or Grade IC certification within one year of employment.
